“Multilateralism is under fire precisely when we need it most” – these are the words with which Secretary General Antonio Guterres has described the current international environment. Amid a shifting international order, the UN is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary next year. Under the theme “The Future We Want, the UN We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism”, various actors from across the UN system will take part in a one-day high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly. In the debate at the Paris Peace Forum, Heads of State will discuss what states gathered in the UN General Assembly can do to make our multilateral system ready to tackle the challenges that humanity is faced with.
